From Mars to Venus started as an acoustic project by Jeremy Henson in early 2006. Longtime friend and previous bandmate John Freeborn expressed an interest in playing drums in the project. John and Jeremy had recently worked on a project together with mutual friend, Dan Strain, and asked him to play bass for FMTV. The band was born. The first song that FMTV worked on was "Thoughts of You." The high energy melodic rock song gave the band a direction. FMTV spent the next year working on writing songs, preparing to debut their sound to St. Louis. The search for a new lead singer started in fall of 2007. Ads were posted. People were auditioned. Months went by without anyone very promising until February 2008 when a message on myspace showed up. It was a young female singer named Ariel. She auditioned and the band fell in love with her voice. The fourth piece was in place the band was ready to take on St. Louis. From Mars To Venus continued for a year in this form until April 2009 when Jeff Higgins, a former bandmate of John and Jeremy's, joined the line up as a second guitarist. Jeff's first show with FMTV was on June 11, 2009. FMTV currently plays shows all over the St. Louis area with a style they describe as alternative post punk underground pop rock. Often incorporating other styles like the latin/jazz influenced "El Bandido Gato," the medievil styled "AA is for Quitters," and the metal influenced "Dream," From Mars To Venus takes high energy melodic rock to a new level. Their debut EP, Seeds of Music, will be released August 28th, 2009. |
